This online activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the co-sponsorship of InforMED and Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine in association with Maharishi Ayur-Veda Association of America. InforMED is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

InforMED designates Online Modules 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this educational activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per Module. InforMED designates Live Modules 1 and 4 of this educational activity for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per Module. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This program is divided into 4 separate Modules. Modules 1,2,3 and 4 are offered online. Modules 1 and 4 are also offered live.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this online course, participants should be able to

Module 1
• Explain fundamental principles and clinical concepts of Maharishi Ayurveda
• Apply Ayurvedic principles of diagnosis of constitutional type (mind-body type)
• Explain principles of Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis
• Explain the Ayurvedic approach to optimizing digestive health.
• Discuss principles of Ayurvedic herbology, including the use of specific spices and herbs to promote balanced digestion.
• Discuss peer-reviewed published research on Maharishi Ayurveda and the Transcendental Meditation technique.
• Apply clinical protocols for common digestive disorders, including dyspepsia, GERD, IBS, chronic constipation and other functional digestive conditions

Module 2
• Apply Ayurvedic principles of diagnosis of types of imbalance (Vikriti)
• Explain the Ayurvedic approach to balanced daily behavioral routine
• Apply principles of Ayurvedic aromatherapy
• Explain the Ayurvedic concept of the structure of the mind and state of mental health
• Continue to apply the principles of patient diagnosis from the Ayurvedic medical perspective
• Explain the Ayurvedic approach to optimizing cardiovascular health.
• Explain the Ayurvedic approach to preventing and treating common mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders.
• Explain the Ayurvedic approach to preventing and treating common headaches.

Module 3
• Discuss the role of Maharishi Ayurveda in the treatment and prevention of chronic disease.
• Apply fundamental concepts of etiology and pathogenesis in Maharishi Ayurveda.
• Apply practical protocols for prevention and treatment of a range of common chronic conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders and gynecological disorders
• Discuss more advanced principles of herbal therapeutics
• Recognize the role of physiological purification procedures in prevention and treatment of chronic disease.

Module 4
• Review main principles for preventing and managing chronic disease
• Apply Vedic Exercise (Yoga asanas and pranayama) to promote mind-body balance
• Apply principles of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment to clinical case problems
• Understand and discuss the Ayurvedic perspective on obesity
• Apply practical protocols for prevention and treatment of a range of common chronic disorders, including common respiratory disorders and metabolic/endocrine conditions.
• Identify and manage environmental factors as causes of disease from the Ayurvedic perspective.
• Incorporate in practice a range of skills, including applications of Ayurvedic diagnostic procedures,, procedures for optimizing digestion and nutrition, balancing biological rhythms, applying herbal therapeutics, detoxification, and prescribing Vedic exercise.
